Personal Items

  • Clothes / Leather Bags & Items

If clothing is exposed to bacteria or mould spores, clothing may incubate these contaminants for a period of time. Clothing absorbs moisture naturally and if exposed to bacteria or mould spores from dust or dirt, clothing can provide an ideal breeding environment for these contaminants to form colonies and multiply. Overtime, they may infect other items if stored close by.

Leather is particularly susceptible to mould due to its porous nature and the presence of organic materials. This makes it an ideal breeding ground for mould growth. High humidity, poor ventilation, and lack of cleaning can further exacerbate the issue.

  • Solution

Lightly spray worn clothing with PUREFOLIO All Surface Purifier and allow to air dry before placing back into wardrobe.

Place a tub of Mould Eliminator Gel or Air Purifier Gel in the wardrobe. The product will evaporate into the air space of the wardrobe, which comes into contact with airborne mould spores, as well as other items in the wardrobe, neutralising the mould. As with all enclosed air enviroments, take steps to reduce moisture.

NOTE: There are no harmful or toxic chemicals in the PUREFOLIO range, meaning that leather and clothing will be kept sanitised without any damage or discolouration caused.

  • Hats / Headwear / Headgear

Bacteria and mould can contaminate headwear through a variety of ways:

    • Exposure – to airborne bacteria and mould.
    • Head sweat – produces conditions susceptible for mould growth, including moisture, warmth and organic debris to germinate and grow.
    • Storage – before and after purchase of headwear.
    • Manufacture – if spores are embedded in any component parts, especially fabrics.

  • Solution

To maintain headwear, it is recommended they are cleaned regularly. Washing with water is ineffective and using conventional detergents may degrade the headwear.

Prior and after use: Spray a light mist of All Surface Spray over the headgear and allow time for air drying.

Regular cleaning regime: Thoroughly clean and disinfect the headgear on a regular basis. Apply the All Surface Spray and wipe with clean cloth. From time to time, use a vacuum cleaner to clean inside and out of your headgear to remove neutralised spores and mould.

  • Shoes / Footwear

Shoes and footwear pick up dirt, bacteria and mould spores from the outside environment. When coupled with sweat and moisture, shoes become breeding grounds for bacteria and mould. Overtime, these contaminants can have several negative effects:

    • Material degradation of shoes, caused by mould eating away the organic materials within shoes, causing the material to deteriorate.
    • Shoes transport mould and bacteria into the car, home and other internal spaces, which spreads the contamination.
    • Bacteria and mould grow within the moist environment of the footwear producing a distinctive odour.
    • Exposure to mould spores can also trigger allergic reactions, respiratory problems, and fungal infections.
  • Solution

    To sanitise shoes and footwear:

    • Upon arriving home, remove your shoes at the entrance. This will ensure that any contaminants attached to your shoes will not be spread throughout your home.
    • Apply a light spray of PUREFOLIO All Surface Purifier on the inside and outside of your shoes.
    • Allow shoes to air dry before placing them into the cupboard.
    • Place a tub of PUREFOLIO Air Purifier Gel in the cupboard to provide ongoing elimination of mould, bacteria and fungal spores.

NOTE: There are no harmful or toxic chemicals in the PUREFOLIO range, meaning that footwear will be kept sanitised without any damage caused.
